HISTORY
Built on a Firm Foundation
The best and strongest companies often come from humble beginnings, as is the case with Complete Building Maintenance.
Paul Smith, a budding entrepreneur, formed the company in Chicago in 1962 with a few employees. The firm performed masonry and tuck-pointing services, and transitioned into roofing for commercial and industrial buildings in the late ’60s. Complete grew at a rapid pace, hiring foremen, laborers and salespeople as the area’s population and businesses burgeoned.

The company moved from the city to Lombard, Ill., a Chicago suburb, in the late 1970s. Complete now has more than 100 employees and does millions of dollars worth of business each year.
The family-owned business is unique in the roofing industry in that many of the same key personnel who joined the firm early on still work there today. Our two superintendents have been with Complete for more than 30 years, and numerous foremen joined the firm more than two decades ago. Such longevity means we understand and resolve even the most complex roofing challenges.
